Kid Wave is the brainchild of songwriter and singer Lea Emmery

Kid Wave began in 2013 as the project of Swedish singer/songwriter Lea Emmery. After leaving her hometown of Norrköping, Sweden as a teenager in 2011, Emmery spent her first couple of years in the U.K. releasing a handful of early tracks on her Bandcamp page under the Kid Wave banner, before being offered an album deal with influential London indie Heavenly Recordings - the first label she sent her demos to - who released the debut EP, Gloom, in 2014.

Elements of harmonic power pop, '90s-inspired indie, and melodic shoegaze peppered the four-song EP, which was followed a year later by the full-length debut, Wonderlust, for which Emmery enlisted old friend and fellow Swedish ex-pat Mattias Bhatt on guitar, Australian transplant Serra Petale on drums and British bassist Harry Deacon. UK tours with The Orwells, Bully and Stereophonics were followed by a European tour with The Vaccines.

Wonderlust was album of the day on BBC6 Music, and classic sounding singles such as "All I Want", "Honey" and "I’m Trying to Break your Heart" have been played on such diverse stations as BBC Radio One, Triple J in Australia and KEXP and KCRW in the US.

Relocating to Los Angeles in 2016 with a large batch of new songs written while shuttered away in the UK countryside, Emmery is now working with local musicians and playing shows both around the city and across the country, opening this spring for The Shins. New single ”Everything Changes”, was co produced and mixed by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Fidlar, Deap Vally) in Los Angeles at the start of 2017, Emmery refining and developing her epic songwriting towards new creative highs.
